Through Your Eyes - An Introduction to Painting
4-week course
Classes are hosted every Wednesday evening from 6-9pm at Mint Art House in Burleigh, beginning on October 27th and finishing on November 17th
We all have a unique way of seeing the world, and this 4-week course will introduce you to the tools and techniques that will develop your painting skills and enable you to translate what you see around you onto the canvas.
Week 1: An Introduction to Intuitive Drawing
Learning to draw is all about learning to see. Once we understand how we see life around us, then the process of drawing becomes about translating our own unique perspective onto paper. In this session, we will go through some fundamental drawing concepts that will allow you to intuitively draw what you see.
h/w: drawing from the home
Week 2: We all Need Colour
While an intuitive approach to colour is best, some basic colour theory will last you a life time. Trust me.
h/w: painting from the home
Week 3: Telling a Story
We’ll be turning one of your drawings from the home into a painting. Presumably, you decided to draw what you did because it meant something to you - you liked the lighting, you liked the shadows, you liked the perspective, or you liked the backstory. Whatever it was, we’ll be running through concepts and ways to highlight what’s important to you. In this class, we will begin your magnum opus
Week 4: Final touches on the Magnum Opus
In this class, we will continue with your main painting with the aim of coming to completion (or almost completion).
